At our practice, we aim to prevent dental problems before they start. To help protect the back teeth, which are the teeth most susceptible to tooth decay, our dentist, Dr. Rust, will place dental sealants. DA dental sealant is made of either a tooth-colored or clear plastic material. This material is placed over the back teeth’s chewing surfaces.

When the sealants are in place, they create a barrier over the back teeth that seals out the germs and food that cause decay. Sealants are often most beneficial when they are placed as soon as the back teeth erupt. This usually occurs between the ages of 6 and 12.
